CA Foundation Course is the entry level for Chartered Accountancy Course. Students can apply for CA Foundation course registration after appearing in class 12th examination conducted by an examining body constituted by law in India or an examination recognized by the Central Government as equivalent thereto. Students after registration to the course are required to complete a minimum of 4 months study period from the date of registration in order to be qualified to appear in the Foundation Examination, i.e., students registered on or before 30th June/ 31st December will be permitted to appear in November/ May examination, as the case may be.
Recent updates by ICAI has altered a new scheme for CA Foundation Course; and the new scheme have come into existence from 1st July, 2017 which will be originated from 2018. CA CPT course is now altered as CA Foundation. A student who registers on or after 1st July, 2017 shall be listed under new course i.e CA foundation course . The First attempt of CA Foundation course would be scheduled on May 2018. The last date for CA foundation course registration is on 31st December.

CA Foundation examinations are held twice a year .After getting registered for CA FOUNDATION course, students are also required to fill in separate application form for appearing in CA FOUNDATION examination registration is valid for 3 years and can be revalidated any number of times for further 3 years period by paying revalidation fee.
Subjects: You have to study four papers under CA FOUNDATION course .Out of which two are subjective and two are objective type. Negative mark for choosing wrong option is there in the objective papers. Following are four papers for CA FOUNDATION examination.

PAPER 2 : Business laws and Business Correspondence and Reporting
Section A : Business laws [60 marks]
Section B : Business Correspondence and Reporting [40 marks]

Section B : Business Statistics [40 marks]
PAPER 4 : Business Economics and Business & Commercial Knowledge

A CA Foundation candidate shall be declared to have passed the test if he obtains at one sitting a minimum of 40% marks in each section and a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of all the sections, subject to the principle of negative marking.
